Microsoft will let expire its form software InfoPath. It announced the company in an entry from January 31 in the Office blog. Thus it confirmed longer making rumors.
In the blog post, it says: "In our efforts to streamline our investments and to provide users a more integrated Office-form experience, we set InfoPath and invest in new form techniques for SharePoint, access, and Word. This means that InfoPath 2013 the last release of the desktop client and InfoPath Forms Services for SharePoint Server 2013 is the last release of InfoPath Forms Services. The InfoPath Forms Services technology within is still maintained and work until further notice by Office 365."
Microsoft is working according to a migration guide, while it developed the "next generation of form technique" in parallel. Extended support for 2013 InfoPath and InfoPath Forms Services for SharePoint runs server 2013 until April 2023.
