Plextor Announces PCI-Express SSD with 770 MB / s read rate2014-03-21 | Comebuy News
Plextor has with the M6e a solid state disk (SSD) with PCI-Express interface is presented. The card is in capacities of 128, 256 and 512 GB offered. It aims to provide higher data transfer rates than conventional SATA models.
The sequential transfer rate specifies the manufacturer up to 770 MB / s reading and 625 MByte/s in writing. These values apply to the 512-GB version. The smaller versions offer same reading speed, but lower write speeds of 580 MByte / s (256 GB model) or 335 Mbytes/s (128 GB).
The performance of the two major variants when processing 4-KByte blocks is specified with up to 105,000 input commands per second (IOPS) in reading mode (random read) and maximum of 100,000 IOPS in write mode (random write). The 128-GB card reached 96,000 respectively 83,000 IOPS.
The integrated Marvell controllers 88SS9183 enable high speeds with native PCI 2.0 support and toggle NAND Flash by Toshiba in combination with Plextor's custom firmware. Thanks to ACHI support (Advanced host controller interface) No proprietary drivers must be loaded. The choice between legacy and UEFI boot mode is also possible at an appropriate motherboard.
The latest version of Plextor's "true speed" technology is intended to prevent a loss of power after prolonged use. According to the data sheet, the mean operating time between failures (mean time between failures MTBF) is 2.4 million hours. A 256-bit encryption to ensure the security of data according to the advanced encryption standard (AES).
Plextor provides a five year warranty on the M6e. Availability and price the manufacturer wants to make only information at a later date.
